Have to head off to Sports Day now, but GP referring me to clinic/consultant for breast pain and lump (query?). But, I don't really know what's normal. I stood in the kitchen the other day, with a friend, a we couldn't really tell what we would be looking for iyswim! Mine feel like lumpy porridge with the odd uncooked grain, and several pea size hard lumps after my armpit. All confused by being v skinny with hardly any boobs, so feeling my ribs too. So, in a public spirited sort of way, could you tell me what ytours are like? Thanks - will compare notes later

oh vintage, i know exactly how you feel. However, the clinic appointment was sent thro fairly quickly and I got told all my results today (same day) so hopefully you will get the same fast service. Thinking of you now - let us know.

Oh grumpy, thats great news.
Made me smile when you said you imagined Mumsnetters sat beside you! What a lovely thought.

Vintage, fingers crossed for you, too. Hope everything goes well. Do let us know how you get on.
Think you have every right to feel a bit sorry for yourself, waiting for anything like that is awful, just imagine us all sat beside you

Thank you you are all lovely. Well doc felt boobs again and said the left one especially had a lot of lumps but nothing that made her think "i dont like the feel of that" which is what she said the last time. She said she would give me a non urgent referrel to breast clinic for a mammogram and or ultrasound as a "base line" she said as i will in future have a hard time of it if i self examine my breasts as ill always feel lumps. This is good news isnt it?

MaryAnnSingleton · 13/07/2010 10:27

yes, I think that sounds like good news..the fact that she doesn't feel worried by them and I hope that a mammogram or ultrasound will reassure.
I think that if your breasts are naturally lumpy then you still need to be aware of any lumps which don't feel the same as usual lumps, if that makes sense and if in doubt am sure your doc will not mind checking for you.
I think you can have a deserved treat now

That's great - I'm absolutely sure that they wd refer you straight away (not as non-urgent) if they were worried, so time to breathe now!
