Is it normal to get an abscess within hours of visiting the dentist

am in the process of leaving my dentist (I have no complaints with her treatment of me) however both ds got an abcess on two separate occasions.

This may just be an unhappy coincidence but my instinct tells me that's not right. The children are treated by a difft children's dentist within the practice.

In particular my ds2 had a filling replaced at beginning of June in a dead tooth (the permanent tooth was coming down on top of it) - within hours he was in great pain and he had an abcess above it. Took antibiotics.

Then over this weekend his breath became putrid the site of the abcess and dead tooth plus new tooth coming looked yukky. Dead tooth fell out yesterday. The permanent tooth had pushed the dead tooth out.

Still a putrid smell.

have got us in at new dentist and ds2 will be going wed.

I really regret leaving but am not happy with the treatment given to my dcs.
