Waking up and cravinf sugar...is this bad?

Have had two very recent times where I have woken up, weak, not able to move really. shaky, and needing sugar sooo badly...

Normally I don't even feel the need to eat until a couple of hours after waking, but when these 'episodes' happen I am wrecked and just need sugar right then. Plus after it it takes me a good couple of hours to recover...

Any ideas on what it could be?

What had you eaten before you slept?

Normal dinners - last night I had a massive salad nicoise, plus pudding. The time before I'd had a roast. Other times I can't really remember but I know it's not that I hadn't eaten the night before.

It's so strange and so horroble. Had to get DP to bring me food and juice into bed this am. And then ended up falling asleep as once I felt half human again I was exhausted

I think i'd be tempted to get your gp to check you for hypoglycemia. If you'd had something really sugary before your sleep then you could be expected to wake in a state of low sugar. Put something like bananas by your bed and fruit juice try to eat food with a low GI and speak with your gp. It must have been really frightening, I hope you are ok

Thanks KickArse. I think I'll def go to GP's next week at some point, as it is so horrible at the time. Feel fine now though!
