do you think its the high blood pressure causing this or something else?

If your BP has been taken and doctor hasn't reacted as if it's abnormal i.e. prescribing pills or suggesting lifestyle changes, then you're probably still suffering the effects of the infection, which can be medically stressful. If the chest infection is gone but you're still getting dizzy-spells and disturbed vision etc., then you'd go back to your doctor and find out why.

Having had high blood pressure for the past 17 months (since pregnant with DS) I would say most definitely.

The doctor took me off the medication for it for a few months and felt like this all the time. Also very irritable and moody. Been back on the tablets for 2 weeks now and feel much better.

Hope you get better soon.

Can't remember the name of the first batch of tablets but the ones I am on now are called Exforge.

There are no underlying problems with me as have had all the scans/tests etc and all clear. To say Irish doctors are thorough is an understatement!

Have you any idea what is causing yours?

what are rhe main symptoms for high blood pressure?

I don't think there are typical symptoms as such, which is why we are advised to get it checked regularly.

If you are worried then that is not going to help. Ask your GP for an appointment. If nothing else they can put your mind at rest.

Good luck x

Your symptoms are consistent with hypertension... but if your body has been under strain fighting an infection, dealing with a hacking cough, taking antibiotics etc., then you can end up tired, shaky and dizzy that way as well.

Really try not to worry as that doesn't help anything - especially BP. Make the appointment for the next opportunity and concentrate on getting rid of your chest infection.

Candyfluff - I spend my life treating people with high blood pressure. May I ask :

how high is your blood pressure ; what is your age roughly and are you Afro-caribbean.

candyfluff · 17/06/2010 20:00

im white - im 30 yrs old ,just been to gp and he said its just the infection totally wiped me out he said my bloods showed infection so sometimes some people take a while to get over it - took blood pressure again and said it had settled down somewhat- just to carry on with painkillers and rest.
i feel reassured that there isnt anything else untoward

Painkillers - especially stuff like Sudafed (for sinisitus) and other ones can cause a raise in blood pressure.
