I was just doing the dishes, leaned across the worktop to reach something when I felt something go and I couldnt move, could walk, turn, sit or anything. Thank god my DH was nearby and he helped me into a chair.

What is this? Has never happended to me before. I have had an achey lower back for years but never anything that rendered me immobile.

It is a bit scarey, not to say inconvenient. have 5 kids and driving them and me off on our hols on sat on a 350mile journey.

My husband has to work and is following us on the next week.

Have any of you ever had this, what is it and will it go away soon?????

I've had something similar to this when my back muscles go into spasm. Try propping yourself up packed round with pillows etc. in an armchair. have a warm hot water bottle on the sore bit of your back, and take pain killers. Then try to relax as best you can. This will be easier when the PK's start to work.

You may find it gradually wears off, and you can start moving gently. Of course if it doesn't improve see your GP. Hope you feel better soon. If it is a spasm - it will very probably be gone by saturday.

Thanks KurriKurri, you've given me some hope!

Will try the hot water bottle and painkillers and get to bed, hopefully I can get out of bed in the morning!

Obviously each case is different but every time i have done my back in i have felt better after 2-3 days. Lots of painkillers and rest. Good luck !!
