Husband has upset stomach, is there anything more I can do for him?

He has stomach cramps, and nausea, and had one small loose poo. He feels shivery, hot/cold.

He is in the spare room resting, I have taken him 2 paracetamol, an anti nausea tablet (That I bought in France). A jug of water, a Dioralyte and a bottle of lemonade.

I am going to keep the children out of the bathroom he is using, and try and keep them away from him.

Is there anything else I can do?
Can`t bare to think of him suffering upstairs by himself

I have some 10mg Buscopan tablets, shall I give him one of those? Or is it best to let the cramps do their job?

I personally let the cramps do their job.

He needs to pass the bugs causing this out of his system...and the quickest way to do this is by letting nature take it's course.

Make sure he keeps his fluids up but other than fluids try and eat minimally until it passes so you are not feeding the bugs in his gut.

Absolutely as a above. If it's a bug or if he's eaten some contaminated food then the best policy is to not eat for 24 hours but instead take in plenty of plain fluids ... no milky drinks or similar. Paracetamol for aches and shivers as a appropriate. (Incidentally, a lot of his symptoms are consistent with constipation... is that something he struggles with?)

If it carries on for more than a day or two or if his symptoms worsen then he could consider seeing the doctor.

Once the problem has passed he should reintroduce a very light diet to begin with. Easily digested foods... soups, broths, steamed fish/vegetables, porridge etc.

Fennel tea is very good for gut cramps.

Try to get some Actimel drinks as well - they contain probiotics which will help his guts get back to normal.

The Buscopan tablets are okay if the pain becomes too much and he can't get to sleep at night.
