I ask, because 12 months ago I had a pain develop in my groin, around the hip joint. I left if for a few months before seeing the doctor because I thought it would get better over time, it didn't! I have been diagnosed with a hip impingement (FAI). I just wondered if you might have the same thing as you said it had gone on for a few weeks.

that sounds painful (i googled it) what treatment are you having?

i have no idea what i have it's painful though and i can't put weight on it when dressing etc.

I didn't want to say incase you could rule it out - but (after physio, ultrasound therapy, and lots of ibuprofen) I've had surgery to remove a bony spur that had formed on the joint and to reshape the socket to prevent it from happening again. It wasn't as bad as it sounds though, I had keyhole surgery 12 days ago and I'm up and about and hoping to ditch the crutches on Wed.

My pain was when trying to flex my leg out and if I tried to stride out when walking. Standing was fine. Apparently a classic symptom is having difficulty putting socks on!

I guess you need to get it checked out, whatever it may be - it sounds rather painful.

go to doctors as there's a good few things it could be. not being able to weight-bear needs investigation.

you might need some physio too SEA. Take those anti-inflamms regulalry, even if it seems better some days.

southeastastra · 26/07/2010 09:25

i finished the tablets, really thought it would be better by now
