GA the norm for a vasectomy?

DH been told he will only be out for 5 mins - seems a lot of effort (and extra staff?) just for that.

Well I've quizzed him and apparently at this hospital they prefer to give a GA 'because it makes it more comfortable than with a local'!!!!!

I must live in a wuss filled area of the country then!!!!

He asked for it is my bet.

Because let's face it, it's riskier, takes longer and is more expensive.

So, as seen, many places don't even offer it.

No, apparently he asked for a local but the Registrar talked him out of it and said they prefer to give a GA. He will only be out for 5 mins apparently.

He def isn't lying!!!!!

The local health trust must have a lot of spare cash for all these GA's.

Blimey which area is this? If I were him, I'd be a lot more scared of a GA than a local. DP had a local, took 15 mins. I drove him home as I am not as cruel and heartless as some others on this thread.

My DH had the snip in May 09 but as it hasn't worked he has to go back in and have a GA. DH asked why a GA and they said they can only do the op under local once.

Well anyway, DH had a terrible time with a local and wished he had had a GA. The local didn't work very well (gave him four injections and that was the limit!). Also he couldn't relax as not used to showing his nether regions to three nurses and a surgeon and the pain. OP as a result took much longer and wasn't successful!!!
