Colposcopy from CIN1 to CIN3 in 13 weeks!

Hi all, I had an abnormal smear last year, shortly after fell pregnant and had a colposcopy at 20 weeks which showed CIN1. I've just gone back for another at 33 weeks and the doc said it was def CIN2, probably CIN3 but couldn't say for sure without a biopsy which I can't have for another 5 1/2 months (3 months after I give birth so my cervix goes back to normal).

If it's gone from CIN1 to CIN3 in 13 weeks is it a little risky to leave it another 5 1/2 months before further investigation? Any experience of this would be appreciated.

I really don't know. Did you ask the GP what would be the result of leaving things until after the baby was born?

No, I kinda said 'oh right, I'll see you then' and left the room in denial. Now I'm a bit worried

Did the doctor advise a course of action? Or is the course of action to wait until after you give birth? What are you supposed to do then?

When you had the first abnormal smear last year - how long had it been since you'd had a smear previous to that?

I know you must be very anxious.

Monitoring is usual practice and usually safe to be left for the time period they're talking about. The NHS CSP document here see page 46-47. If they were worried then the doctor would do a biopsy. I suggest that you give the colposcopy unit a call and ask if one of the medics could go through it with. They are used to people having questions afterwards!
Hope they can put your mind at rest.
