Cerrezette contraceptive pill.......your experiences....

I started taking cerrezette in december last year...and have since been anxious, depressed, temper issues, and sporadic bleeding. I came off it on saturday and am now experiencing a really heavy painful period...I have been tested for MS in the last few months and this is due to the pill and its side effects I'm sure of it....I have an MRI scan next week, which I am sure will give me the all clear......

Waht are others experiences?....shold I be worried about this bleeding?

Terrible mood swings and depression, acne, no sex drive, nearly constant bleeding.

It was a disaster.

Bollox · 09/06/2010 09:29

no bleeding or pain at all which was good but no mood at all either. just flat.

stephie101 · 09/06/2010 09:36

Yeah just as I thought....thing is I had just started getting myself back to 'normal' after being on anti-D's for 6 years,in the last 10 months, marriage breakdown, ectopic pregnancy, bankcruptcy, redundnacy, and now possible eviction...didnt need any anti-D's.....then went on to cerrazette...so I think it's a trip down the docs for a little chat!!!

No periods which was great but no sex drive and heightened anxiety.

I came off the pill in February this year and feel MUCH better.

DH has agreed to have the snip as I never want to take a hormonal contraceptive again.

DanJARMouse · 09/06/2010 10:35

It agrees with me..... I seem to be a minority!

I have no pain, no periods, and I feel fine! Ive never been one to be "on top of the world" but I wouldnt say I get mood swings. If I do feel a bit GRRRR its usually easier for me to go and do 45mins at the gym or swimming pool and I then come back feeling loads better.

Sex drive is there, but with 3 kids under 6yrs old, we just cant be arsed a lot of the time!

winnybella · 09/06/2010 10:35

I'm on the first cycle with it. Constant spotting, just gor my period 4 days early and it's very heavy. I'm pissed off all the time and anxious.
Could be due to the circumstances in my life, but am suspicious it's the pill.

mummytowillow · 09/06/2010 21:10

I only managed a month on it, it turned me into a bad tempered, irritable, angry, agressive, tearful and very anxious cow!

I wasn't even taking it for contraception, I was given it by a gynae for severe ovulation pain, I just put up with the pain!

winnybella · 09/06/2010 21:13

Exactly, mummytowillow! (love Willow btw!)Can I just add to my previous post that I am in the worst mood ever right now? Extremely irritated/sad/anxious. And my period is still ridiculously heavy.
Not sure if I can manage another month or so.

Maybee · 09/06/2010 21:22

Hateful! I tried it for 5 weeks when I stopped bfing and from being a bit knackered but coping cheerfully most of the time with 2 tots, I turned into an angry, tearful targe overnight. I was honestly convinced that I had pnd but couldn't understand why it might happen so suddenly and 7mths after the birth. I googled it to see that many people had the same reaction and I came off it. Mood lifted again straight away. i'm now on micronor which is ok but I'd rather not take anything I'm reading about natural methods just now..Take charge of your fertility...but can't see myself trusting that.

winnybella · 09/06/2010 21:31

Oh, really, Maybee? It started taking effect on me after a couple of weeks...maybe I'm just a miserable hag

Wolfcub · 09/06/2010 21:36

I may also be in the minority. I take the pill to improve horrendous periods and had to switch from previous brand because of high blood pressure. So far so good. No mood swings - that I've noticed, maybe I ought to ask dh. I do get some cramping and discomfort but no bleeding, at worst it's spotting which given how bad they were before I would frankly put up with all sorts of side effects to have. No sex drive to speak of but don't think I've really had much of one since I had ds nearly 4 years ago. Will keep an eye on the mood thing though.

chihiro · 09/06/2010 21:46

Another nightmare here I'm afraid. Heavy bleeding everyday 11 days plus constant spotting, really down and tearful all the time, and sex drive completely vanished. Came off it after just 6 weeks and it was like the sun had come out again.

Still yet to find a pill which I can get along with. Sigh

chihiro · 09/06/2010 21:51

Sorry that should have been every 11 days. Anyway it was more bleeding than I could cope with.

colditz · 09/06/2010 22:04

Mood swings for about 2 weeks after starting it, none since (only 6 weeks in though!)

not had proper periods yet, only light 'mini' bleeds.

Sex drive normal.
I think I'm putting weight on but I am quite greedy so maybe can't blame the pill for that.

Maybee · 10/06/2010 22:05

I feel the same way chihiro about the pill I mean. I'm on micronor again as I had a bit of a pg scare v recently but I'd love to give it up. I just feel s bit subdued on micronor and my sex drive takes a dive. Let me know if you find the wonder pill

kathrynharriet · 10/06/2010 22:11

I took this for 6 moths after dc3, worst 6 months of my life. It made me hateful, tearful and i had no sex drive whatsoever! My relationship with DP was awful he eventually threw them away as he couldn't cope with me ! I felt better within 3 days, it took about 5 months for my periods to come back.
Try coming of them for a while, and see how you go!
Hope you get some answers either way!

pippibluestocking · 10/06/2010 22:18

Crap - continual bleeding, continual crampy pain and when I stopped it, thw heaviest bleeding and the worst pain I have experienced outsude of a miscarriage and childbirth. My GP told me to persist and it would sort itself out after a few months. I quit!!

ThatVikRinA22 · 10/06/2010 22:22

i started it again last week.

i feel no different on it to off it. it doesnt affect me at all in any way shape or form other than i have no periods! fan bloody tastic.

bigstripeytiger · 10/06/2010 22:26

Im happy with it too. No bleeding since I started it, and I find it easier to just take one tablet a day rather then remembering when I am meant to be taking a break.

TotalChaos · 10/06/2010 22:33

my experience is mostly positive - light painfree irregular bleeding for a year, then periods stopped. think it has reduced my sex drive though. had to come off Microgynon due to raised BP, preferred Microgynon slightly.

ThatVikRinA22 · 10/06/2010 22:36

interesting about the sex drive thing....i was in hyper drive and my poor DH was knackered, but have felt less like it since starting this pill again, but that could be stress on my part...got some heavy stuff happening.

if he would just go and get a bloody vasectomy all our problems would be sorted.

plipy999 · 23/07/2010 15:04
