8 day period on cerazette?

I started Cerazette a month ago and just had my first period on it. It has lasted 8 days long and no sign of it finishing. Is this normal?

Also I feel like my libido has just disappeared, have no desire whatsoever for anything sexual either with my husband or DIY!

I dont think I like this pill.

oh.....im about to start this one again after 18 months off it - i never had a period on it. not sure about the libido thing but if that drops off ill be coming off it.

expatinscotland · 31/05/2010 21:50

i had to stop taking cerazette due to too much bleeding and lack of sex drive. it was a good contraceptive for this very reason .

Irishchic · 31/05/2010 21:53

Oh God. I came off the Mirena cos of horrible side effects and now I think this might not suit me either.

Bloody bloody contraception. Why can I not find something that doesnt muck me up?!

i came off Mirena because of bad side effects, too.

then tried Cerazette and that didn't work, either.

progesten-only based contraception isn't for me.

dh had the snip.

Irishchic · 31/05/2010 21:59

My husband is a bit iffy about getting the sniff and tbh I cant blame him. I refuse to get sterilised even though I dont want any more babies, so I can understand him not wanting a vasectomy either.

Although it would make life a lot simpler...

Maybe I just just give up on sex and take up chocolate instead!

I love Cerazette!! No periods at all, and other than being completely fookin knackered all the time (and i think it IS pill related) I cant fault it.

I would go back and ask for something else!

Irishchic · 31/05/2010 22:00

Should just not just just! Obv time for my bed!

Oh, mine didn't mind getting the snip at all.

3 kids is bloody expensive.

We're not extremely young anymore, either.

I'm nearly 40, he's 33.

DanJARMouse · 31/05/2010 22:04

I wont get steralised and DH wont get the snip either - so me being knackered on Cerazette is our compromise. I remain baby-free, and get to sleep as and when I need to, and he gets to keep his man-hood in situ!

Have you tried Depo jabs? I found them really good, but I did put on a lot of weight..... I really do not think there is a contraceptive out there without ANY side effects!

expatinscotland · 31/05/2010 22:06

If Mirena and Cerazette don't work for you, do not try Depo!

expatinscotland · 31/05/2010 22:07

There's nothing wrong with DH's manhood post-snip.

Nikita, try visiting a family planning clinic.

If you cannot use combined contraception, you might be able to use NuvaRing.

expatinscotland · 31/05/2010 22:07

Sorry, if you can't use combined oral pill, you might be able to use NuvaRing.

Or copper coil, which has no hormones.

BertieBotts · 31/05/2010 22:08

This happened to me on cerazette as well. My GP told me to stop taking it.
