My little girl is 2 in August, on sunday afternoon she was sick and had diarrhea, then again later on in the night. Yesterday she was a bit grumpy but no more D&V just sleepy. Today she has spent most of the day sleeping and has barely eaten anything since Sunday although has drank quite alot. She has had a bit of diarrhea tonight. I cant get her to the doctors as i'm on my own with 4dc. Please stop me fretting and tell me its just a bug

Sounds like it is just a bug and if she is drinking plenty then she should be fine but none of us here can give a proper medical opinion without more background so if your worried I'm afraid it's the old favourite NHS Direct.

Should mention she was out in the sun for a couple of hours in the morning. She was covered in sun cream and I kept trying to keep her hat on but to no avail....

I agree, there is nothing that a doc could do anyway. There are no pills for bugs just rest and time. May take a few days to get it out of her system.

Gah your should of course be you're - that'll teach me for multitasking.

I know i'm prob seeming a bit silly, I'm a very big worrier and i'm scared that it could be something worse than a bug. Shes on the sofa and i'm watching her like a hawk!!

Stop fretting - it's just a bug!

Look - what do you think it could be other than a bug? Sunstroke - she wasn't out in the hottest part of the day and if you were trying to keep her hat on I bet you were keeping a pretty close eye on her generally. Meningitis? I assume she has no temperature or rash? Dehydration? She would have to take in absolutely nothing and really bring back a lot to get in to trouble with this - doesn't sound like that's what she's doing. D&V can take a few days to settle and it does take it out of you - I felt diabolical last year when I had norovirus. Just keep offering little and often. as long as she's sipping plenty of fluids you're fine. Her appetite will come back when she's ready for food.

My two (18 months and 4 year old) had this recently. On/off vomiting and diaharrea for nearly a week. Very tired and lethargic too and drank loads but didn't eat for days.

The only thing to watch out for is a high temp as the D&V starts to improve. Both mine had a temp after a few days and my sister's children had the same bug and got the high temp at the end too.

They are all fine again now.

Hope your dd feels better soon.

Thankyou, thats very reassuring! It was difficult to tell the last 2 days if she had a fever or not as it was so hot, but today she has felt normal. I will keep an eye out though!!
