Worried about my husbands eyesight

It has deteriorated over the years ive been with him (10 years) but nothing major. He has been having bad migraines of late and went to the doctors about them today, who sent him straight to the opticians. The optician has refered him to an opthalmic specialist and the doctors receptionist opened the letter and said they would be in touch asap.
Im scared shitless he's going to go blind and never see our childrens faces again.

Try not to think the worst. Opticians can really only correct vision with spectacles. If they detect abnormalities that need more specialised treatment they refer the patient to a opthalmic specialist. There are lots of possible outcomes besides blindness. And if visual impairment is the end result, that's actually not the end of the world either.

RRW - so sorry you are both going through this Has anyone actually said what it is they are looking for/think it is etc?

How is your husband dealing with it?

No they havent mentioned what they are looking for, but apparently they did a test where you have to spot orange dots or something and he did it twice and didnt see the same spots both times, in a certain area. It could be indicative of macular degeneration though, or worse another condition where there is absolutley no treatment (cant remember its name though). He is trying to act optimistic but I know he is gutted and worried, he mentioned how bad it would be if he never saw the kids faces again and started to look tearful.
Its shit.
