I have a temp, I have the pain in the areas mentioned and I get pain on going for a wee. I saw triage nurse yesterday who said "urine sample showing blood and protein and very very darka nd cloudy, will send it off, we should get results tomorrow, in the meantime jsut take paracetamol for the pain and drink plenty"

I ahve jsut rung her tos ee if results are back. She said no. is aid I was getting worse, more severe pain and burning feeling now too when going for a wee. "Take paracetamol" was her reply "the results aren't in yet".

It is so bad, I have jsut walked literally round the block with the dog and every step hurt my abdomen. Any suggestions to get me through till tomorrow

I'd get to the doctor's this evening if possible. I would say at the least you need antibiotics. See the doctor, not the nurse.

In the meantime painkillers and a warm bath.

Hope you feel better soon.

I agree with Lil, call your GP up now and get an emergency appointment.

Crapweasel · 18/05/2010 16:02

I'm no expert but I expect that the nurse is waiting for your cultures to come back so you can ensure that you have the "right" antibiotics. But I agree with the others that if you are in that much pain you should see a GP and get on a broad spectrum antibiotic straight away. Poor you. Make the call, repeat after me "I need an emergency appt...."

chuck some bicarb in water and drink it - it heps with the sore wee.

LilRedWG · 18/05/2010 17:25

How're you feeling now?

Pancakeflipper · 18/05/2010 17:27

Drink lemon barley water. Flushes the system out.
Get some anti-b's asap because there is no need for the agony. Codine is a good pain relief for this area.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 18/05/2010 18:44

You need antibiotics. If I go to my GP with what I know is a UTI and there's protein in my urine they prescribe me the antibiotics right away without sending off a culture.

(That is partly because I've had UTIs before and if I try to ride them out by drinking lots of anything to flush out my system they always end up in my kidneys; I generally explain that too).

This is so unnecessary. The antibiotics start to work very quickly, so if you'd been prescribed them yesterday you'd be feeling fine by now.

If you possibly can I would try to get in to see a doctor.

With that much pain your kidneys may be infected. You need treatement tonight; you can't afford to leave it. Do you have an after-hours walk-in service?

BelleDameSansMerci · 18/05/2010 18:53

Please, please contact your surgery's out of hours service and see someone tonight. I ended up going to hospital for our out of hours last week with DD because I couldn't stand the pain of my similar sounding infection. I knew mine was cystitis though because I often get it.

Get some ABs asap. It will get better quite quickly - there is no reason why you should suffer with this.

LilRedWG · 19/05/2010 10:33

Saltire - how are you today? Did you see a doctor yesterday?

Crapweasel · 19/05/2010 14:17

How are you doing Saltire?

alypaly · 19/05/2010 17:53

get some mist potassium citrate and drink loads of water with it. Now that you have given your sample your gp should be able to start you on a general antibiotic til the results come back.

nannynobnobs · 19/05/2010 20:12

Definitely sounds like a kidney infection from my experience- like being kicked in the back by a Shetland pony. Horrible. Hope you got something for it.

LilRedWG · 21/05/2010 10:43

Hope you are getting better Saltire.
