Hi. Having ruled out several other potential causes for some gynae problems, have been tested for chlamydia this morning - resisting temptation to Google and get information overload - have not had sex with anyone other than DH since getting together with him 13 years ago.

Assuming he also has not (pretty sure he has not!!), could I have had this for 13 years???? Have had cervical "scare" history approx 15 years ago, all sorted. Regular smears etc since. 2DC's, straightforward births.

Any advice or insight? thanks

you could quite easily carry it around for that long without realising thats what it is, for a lot of people you can have it without any symptoms whatsoever.

Were you not tested during pg? It is standsrd in our trust- they test for hiv, hep, chlamydia.

Agree with kt. As I understand it, you can carry it for years without realising it.

I have no idea if I was tested in pregnancy.... had all the usual blood tests (does it show up on a blood test?). No one said anything either way. Either I wasn't tested for that, or I was and was clear.

It's possible I am clear now, but most other things have been ruled out, so it's on the short list of possible suspects....

I don't think you can test for chlamydia with a blood test, it has to be done via swab. I wasn't asked to consent to a chlamydia test when I was pregnant either time, so it is more than likely you weren't tested at that time if you don't remember it.

No- it is only done by consent, though as I say, standard in our trust.
I'm sorry but yes, it does hang around unknown for many many years.
I'm sorry you're going through this, it must be very worrying and upsetting.
