I had a lump taken out of my breast about 10 days ago. Everything has been fine, wound looks fine, not sore etc.

In the night I must have turned on to my front and I have woken up this morning with blood on me, the mattress has a large stain and there was a pool on the floor.

Yesterday it did feel a little bit lumpy above the wound on my nipple. I thought the infection may have been back, I had about 5mls of pus drained for tests a few weeks ago.

So my question is, is this a build up of old blood that has found a way out because of the pressure?

It would be really difficult for me to get to A and E and don't want to unless really necessary. Thanks

gosh, i didn't know you 'd been going through this.. hope you are ok

did you lose red blood? that is fresh bleeding.

can you call doctor/nurse/surgeon for advice?

can anyone come out to you if you can't go out?

a pool of blood on the floor does not sound ideal, TBH

Amapoleon · 17/05/2010 07:27

Hi, thanks, yes I've kept the lump thing quiet, hopefully get the results this week. The blood does look pretty fresh. I can call all of the above but don't want to have to lug all the way over to Gib, unless I have to. I am no longer in the Spanish system so I would have to go to gib.

ah, right, i know my ILS are members of helicopeteras saniteros (SP?) who are docs who will make a home visit to you in spain ... not sure if you can pay them per visit, or it is only via a monthly subscription.

perhaps you could phone someone for advice and see what they recommend?

Lulumaam · 17/05/2010 07:29

Got hold of breast nurse and she thinks it is probably normal. A haematoma [sp] left over from op that I have put pressure on in the night.

I just panicked because it looked like something out of a horror movie.

my mum had a similar thing after a gall stone op - she ended up with a sort of plaster that had a drain in it - to let it empty out - the district nurse changed every day or so - took a week or two, also had antibiotics.

Hope it mends soon.

Amapoleon · 17/05/2010 09:12
