I did go to the GP and was sent away with leaflets (a week later I was pregnant ) as she didn't know the answers to my questions. What I really want is something that stops ovulation mainly, and that rarely works by stopping an egg becoming implanted. I thought the IUS thingy did this, but I have just read it doesn't stop ovulation. Does anyone know anythingmuch about this, I have read all I can find but it's all abit "this one is the best" - I want the real raw facts.

A combined pill will stop ovulation, I believe...

The combined pill and the implant will stop ovulation.

In most women the depo-provera injection stops ovulation.

The IUS does stop ovulation in some women as do some of the mini-pills e.g. cerazette. I havent had a period for 2 years on cerazette.

The depo stops ovulation but made me bleed constantly and put on lots of weight. Implanon also stops ovulation but it made my sister bleed all the time and she ended up getting it removed.

Netdoctor has info on the contraceptive methods - just use the Search box to see if you can find the right choice for you.
