despite the GP increasing my BP meds. I got it taken today 142/92, which is lower than last time but not low enough apparently.

GP has said I need to now look at taking a second lot of BP meds - water pills were talked about.
Does anyone have any experience of tkaing these? I hear these horror stories from DH's nan about getting up 20 times a night for the loo.

What are you taking at the moment? Diuretics are best taken first thing (unless you're going out) so you've stopped peeing so frequently by bed time.

Water pills should be taking in the morning, they usually have a duration of action of about 6 hours so don't take any later than early afternoon in the event of you having something to do in the morning.

Goto Lloyds and get one of their free blood pressure checks done. Alot of people suffer from white coat syndrome and have elevated blood pressure at the doctors.

You could buy your own blood pressure machine for home monitoring but make sure it's been approved by the British Hypertensive Society and you replace it every two years.

There are four classes of blood pressure pills so there is probably an alterative you can take to water tablets in addition to what you are currently taking.
