Bloated stomach whilst taking anti-biotics - what can help?

Have been taking 2000mg penicillin a day for the last 10 days and my stomach feels really bloated and I feel really lethargic. I literally look about 5 months pg.

Do those drinks work?

What can make me feel less bleurgh?

Drink plenty of plain fluids.. ideally water, broths, teas... to keep your digestion running smoothly and choose foods with plenty of fibre for the same reason. Try to eat in a 'little and often' fashion so that your stomach isn't trying to do too much at once and creating gas. Depending on the AB you'll have been advised to when to take it in relation to food. Pro-biotic drinks might help but the ABs will be more powerful.

If the ABs aren't agreeing with you then go back to whoever prescribed them. There are alternatives.

The antibiotics are killing the good bacteria in your stomach (as well as the bad uns).

AFTER you've finished the anti biotics get some acidophilus from the chiller cabinet of any health shop; they're expensive (about £20 for a month's supply).

But within a couple of days you'll see your stomach regain it's normal shape.

Keep the healthy gut going by eating lots of veg; particularly onions, in the early days.
