Has anyone got a positive story about the Implanon contraceptive implant?

The majority of things i've found about it are bad but it must be good for someone. I've been on the pill before and had no probs with that but i'm considering the implant now.

I'm just going to bed but will read replys in the morning

well, I had it put in in november 2007 and have not had a period since december 2007! So thats a major positive obviously!

But you have to remember it affects everybody differently.

I had it in last August & no problems, really. I still have periods, & at first had a bit of irregular bleeding, but they gave me the pill to take for a couple of months & it sorted itself out after that. It may have done after a while anyway, I don't know.

I really like it - there's no having to remember to take it & I preferred having it put in than the idea of having a coil!

I have it and love it! No periods and no side effects. Have heard some pretty negative experiences re getting it removed but will cross that bridge when I get to it.

dr recommended it for me yesterday so I'm also interested in feedback. I was surprised that you could start when BF. I went for my 6 week postnatal check and she said I could have it straight away.

Thanks all. I think i'm going to give it a go cos like cordonbleugh said it affects everyone differently so i won't know without trying

I rang the doctors and they had some appointments for this morning so i've talked it through with my gp and, as i'm on my period now, i'm getting one fitted on Tuesday.

fab news phoenix Hope it works well for you. And don't forget, if you do suffer from bad side effects, you can have it removed at any time.

Got it put in yesterday, didn't feel a thing
