my ds1 has a small raised red mole like spot on the back of his neck. it looks like a mole but is raspberry red colour and almost translucent. does anyone know what it could be? he's never had sunburn but worried as he is very fair

have lots- which I worried about until my dad pointed out that he had them too. I'm nt sure what they are- but I've had them long enough to assume they're nothing nasty iykwim.

hi jimjams i've got them too but have never thought a 5 year old would get them. can't find what they are called as have tried searching on various health sites and just end up scared!

Don't know if its the same thing but I have absolutely loads of little red spots and when I asked at the doctors (on 2 separate occasions) was told they are nothing to worry about and they were called mcdougalls or mcdonalls something or other (sorry long time ago and brain turned to cream cheese since having children ).

Hi shrub
My ds had a small raised red mole on his arm for quite a few months, and then it slowly disappeared, there is nothing there now.

strawberry birthmark (even if it hasn't been there from birth). I believe there is a genetic connection to them. Some disappear and some don't by puberty. You should show it to your gp just to be sure, but it's unlikely to be anything problematic.
