Thyroglossal duct cyst in toddler?

Hi does anyone have any info on this . Gp thinks that is what is wrong with my 2 year old ds but we have to wait for a scan which might take 2 weeks.

He has a large swelling where his adams apple should be which moves when he swallows. He also has another small pea size lump further down at the top of his collar bone in the centre. Im really worried as although he has a cold and runny nose he seems really tearful and not himself today. Should I just wait and see what the scan says or does anyone have some info or experience of this please.
