mirena coil and high blood pressure

Hi, I'm thinking of getting the mirena coil fitted as I have had two children (youngest is 4 and not planning any more) and am fed up with using condoms and 'being careful'. I cannot take the pill as I have suffered with high blood pressure since I gave birth to my youngest, so wondered if mirena coil is safe to use with existing hypertension? Been reading up on it and first impression it looks good, but on couple of threads here I see quite e few people have suffered with weightgain and mood swings. Any advice please??

Mirena is pretty much the equivalent of taking 2 mimi-pills (progesterone-only) a week, so shouldn't interfere with your bp and progest - related side effects like mood swings etc shouldn't be too bad as the dose is so small.
(Remember any kind of contraceptive hormone will only cause weight gain by making you more hungry rather than making you chubby!)
On the plus side your periods should eventually be much lighter or stop,(but can be erratic for a while) and it's as effective as getting your tubes tied.
