I know I need to go to A&E but Dh is at work and I don't want to take the DCs with me.

I will go when he gets back, but it really hurts. It is supported. What else can i do?

Can you apply a bag of peas or something wrapped in a towel - to stop it swelling too much? Sounds sore, how did you do it? (if you can type!)

Nessarose · 09/04/2010 14:42

I triped over dd.

Oh you poor thing.

I wondered if you are able to ask someone else to mind the children while you go? How long is it till dh is home?

If it's a few hours, maybe someone from MN is near enough to help? I will if I am near enough, am in the south east.

Nessarose · 09/04/2010 14:51

Dh will get home about 5.10ish. i am in oxfordshire.
Thanks for the offer but i will be ok.

Try and keep it higher than your heart to reduce swelling and remove any rings.
Good luck!

MerlinsBeard · 09/04/2010 19:05

Hopefully you have gone for x ray now.

How is it?

Sometimes a fracture or even just "pinging" one of the small bones can hurt SO much. And it won't always swell with a break.

I have broken my wrists 3 times, fractured twice and sprained many times!!

Nessarose · 10/04/2010 20:22

I have broken the sacifoid (sp?)and its hurts

Scaphoid? Bummer

I can't believe you waited several hours to get it seen, to me that was quite awe inspiring and made me wonder why I am not that kind of mother!

Hope you have got some decent painkillers.

It's the bone motorcycle racing is most guilty of breaking, for some reason! Bet that makes you feel so much better

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 10/04/2010 20:26

Have you got to go back for some more x-rays in 10 days? Scaphoid fractures don't show up straight away.

Milliways · 10/04/2010 20:28

DS broke his scaphoid last summer. Had the cast taken off after 6 weeks, the day before we went on hoiday, and then he broke his ulna in same arm 4 weeks later!

You, like DS, are lucky to get a scaphoid break diagnosed same day. SOmetimes they don't show up for 2 weeks!

Hope it settles soon.

Nessarose · 10/04/2010 22:09

Thanks all i was lucky to get it diagnosed.

Pixie chocolate is a very good idea.
