My daughter has been taking acidophillus after antibiotics - does anyone know how long she should take them in order to restore normal levels of good bacteria in her gut? Thanks!

whenever i've given acidophilus to my two dd's i give for at least 2 weeks, they take a powdered form which i mix in with their cereal hope she's better

Just to add you should take the highest strength you can find - you need like billions of bacteria. Optibac products seem good and they were really helpful with me recently - even sent me some free stuff.

I add it to my DS's milk every day without a break and not just after he's had antibiotics on advice of nutritionist (had to restart his good bacteria after way too many IV antibiotics and chemotherapy - that was May - Nov 2008 and we still give him probiotics and probably will for good really.

Would be wary of using the probiotic drinks in the fridges and advertised on the TV as they have loads of sugar in which prevents good bacteria growing and allows bad bacteria to thrive more (as they like sugars)?!
