Sharp stabbing pain during sex

Hi all,

I had my DS nine weeks ago and tried to have sex with DH a couple of nights ago for the first time. I experienced some extreme sharp stabbing pains deep in my vagina on my left side which prevented us from going any further. It was so painful it's put me off sex for a while!

During the birth of my son I had foetal sampling, a node put on his head in the womb and a pretty severe episiotomy on the right side of my vagina. He was also ventouse. So I am wondering whether the pain could be linked to any of these?

Either way I am just concerned as to whether this is 'normal'. I realise that I will probably be experiencing some pain during sex after having a baby but this just seems so severe and localised. It's like he has razors on the right side of his penis!

Has anyone else experienced this or knows what it might be?

Help!

I had quite severe sharp pains for the first fews times we had sex after ds1 was born, although I was able to grit my teeth and put up with it. (That sounds terrible doesn't it!). I had an episiotomy and a ventouse delivery.

I didn't try to have sex until ds1 was 8 weeks old. The pain did get better so I guess it was down to the episiotomy healing further, I did have some problems with scar tissue which took longer to resolve, but did eventually resolve by itself.

I would see your GP if you can, but I expect you probably just need a bit longer to heal.
