Moving house - am worried fleas will move with us

We have fleas in our house! My cat was put to sleep a few weeks ago as he had a huge tumour. I was flea treating him but it didn't work and our house is infested with the blighters.
Have been spraying with household flea spray but still see them sometimes.
In fact I'm dreading the prospect that they'll stow away and I'll never be free of them.

We're moving in two weeks, I've washed all the clothes to be packed, bedding and towels, and am throwing away the rugs.

Please come and tell me that we won't bring fleas to our new house

Get a pest control company in. Best option- you don't want the people moving in to meet the fleas either do you?! So sorry to hear about the cat. x

Have you tried RIP Fleas?

Very good, ime.

Thanks for the replies.

I have just phoned the council and they'll be sending Pest Control round, it's only £14 as I'm on IS. That's rather good value!

No, definitely wouldn't want the next tenants to inherit this problem. I think the fleas were already here when we moved in as my cat never went outside.
Apparently they can lie dormant in carpets for a year
