Ds' first new "big" tooth looks decidedly grey... advice?

DS has perfect white milk teeth, brushes well and sees a dentist regularly. Has never had any problems. However, his first big tooth is now through (it actually grew in behind the milk tooth which then fell out a few weeks later) and it looks quite grey in comparison. Should I be worried?

Probably not. my ds knocked his milk tooth which has gone green!!! my dentist said it was a disruption of blood flow around the root. Did your ds knock it or bang it? take him to the dentist just to be sure but mine said the golden rules are if it doesnt change colour anymore, as long as it doesnt hurt and isn't loose it should be fine. HTH

No they're often not as white as those cute baby ones. Is it totally grey though? Because one of ds's was and it was dead, apparently must have been knocked at some point (no idea when so can't have been a hard knock). Luckily it was a baby one though. So if it's just less white I wouldn't be worried, if it's completely grey I might be slightly.
Ps Am not a dentist! har de har.

Well, it is only half through at the moment so can't see how he could have knocked it - especially as there was one in front of it until two weeks ago... will wait to see what it looks like when it is completely through. Thanks for advice though.

did you take antibiotics when you were pg? sometimes they can affect babys teeth

my dds big teeth arent as nice and white as her babys ones and the dentist reassured me that they are not and thats that

JanH - sorry for delay, been away. Yes, it is a bit jaggedy. Not quite as grey as first appeared, but definitely not as pearly white. Is he a vampire?

When second teeth first come through - with the jaggedy edge - they are kind of translucent, which does make them look a bit grey; the jaggedy bit wears down and the rest of the tooth often becomes/appears whiter as it grows and matures.

Hope this happens to DS's!
