Go to the doctor if you're really worried, but then you probably have little aches etc all the time (as we all do)-you will drive yourself nuts focusing on every single minor ailment you get. I know I'm stating the obvious, sorry, but I think you need to give therapy another chance. It really is a waste of your life to spend so much time worrying about imagined illnesses and it can be fixed. Maybe it will take more than one therapist, but it definitely can be cured or controlled.

Please, think about it and also how much better it will make you feel just taking the action of starting to get your life back, not even mentioning how much better you'll feel once you'll no longer spend so much time obsessing about random aches etc.

Best of luck x

And post tomorrow or whenever about how it's going!

Hi Winny , just back
from Docs , couldnt sleep much last night as worried incase i missed something , so got appt today , she examined me thoroughly and said all felt normal and no lumps , so that was good
but said should get worse to come back .

we also talked about my anxiety , she advised i take citalopram AD to help .
as i have been like this for some time , i guess i have to try something ....
have you ever taken AD ? slightly worried about side effects ...

How are you today ?

I was just thinking about you and about to ask how you were today!

No, I have never taken ADs, even though I did have a depression/ anxiety with panic attacks for about 2 years (not anymore) and OCD that is almost non-existent now.

I guess I have a strong pragmatic side to me as well as the irrational one, and once I figured out what it was that I had I just was able to deal with it(admittedly easier with OCD than with depression).

I'm sure ADs can be very helpful, but I heard that it's best to take them together with therapy, so you can change from within iyswim, as opposed to just dosing yourself with calming chemicals that will not really get to the root of the problem.

Anyway, you know you have HA, it's a first step, now you need to take it by the horns and start getting rid of it.

choclab · 23/03/2010 11:06

thanks , what would you recommend i try ? i really dont want to take the AD but dont know what els to do ... i DO want to be rid of this anxiety ...
i have a fantastic life and many things to be thankful for and am ashamed for wasting time worrying instead of just enjoying my life ....

thanks again x

I don't know much about different therapies, maybe you could start a new thread asking about that? There's plenty knowledgeable people on here and I'm sure you'll get a lot of helpful replies.

What I think is thought of as the best approach is the cogitive behavioural therapy, where you work towards changing your thought patterns etc, as opposed to psychoanalysis, where you talk about your childhood etc and how has that affected you etc (over-simplified here, obviously).

With CBT of course you talk about the backround but most of the effort is directed towards getting rid of the problem at hand.

Good luck.

Put it out your mind now, you will drive yourself crazy, and I dont say that lightly as I suffer from HA, although recently its been soooo much better as I have been taking citalopram, its like a magic wand has been waved

choclab · 24/03/2010 15:34

thanks loopy,

Can i ask few questions then please ,

Do you take it morning or pm ?

Have you had side effects ?

Doctor has prescribed this to me for HA but im worried about taking it to be honest .
