Lump behind nipple?

luckywinner · 20/03/2010 22:48

Oh please someone come and calm me down. I have had a sore left breast all day. I did a check and I can feel a lump to the left of my nipple which is prob size of a broad bean. I have had a fibroadenoma (sp?) before in the same area but I can't remember which breast. If I squeeze both nipples, the left one feels like swollen, right behind the nipple. Of course I then went on to google to find out about checking and it said about discharge so I squeezed both nipples and got white (what looked like breast milk) from both sides. I am not bf, I am not pregnant, but I am in a complete stress. And of course all I can think about is a friend who's just had a complete mastectomy due to finding a lump.

I know, I was in bed by 7pm! Did you have any luck getting through to your breast clinic?

i had something similar. small lump just behind the nipple. went to my docs and he said that it could be a "mouse" but wanted to have it checked. ended up paying to see a doc and it was confirmed that it was just my milk ducts that were inflamed. i had had 2 miscarrages months before and was told that it could be related but can just be caused my hormaones

That's v interesting pud. I had two miscarriages last year, one early, one late-ish. I wonder whether it might be linked. It would be such a relief if it was something like that. Sorry to hear about your miscarriages though. That is another hideous experience I wouldn't wish on anyone.

oh you poor thing luckywinner- what an awful day - I too will be thinking of you tomorrow. I do think the not knowing is the worst thing. Let us know please and lots of good thoughts whizzing your way.

smee · 22/03/2010 21:24

lucky, the clinic's calling me tomorrow to fix appointment. Their system was down today, but they were very nice on the phone and said I'd be seen by the end of the week which is a relief. Am wishing you much sleep to make the time go faster. So hard all this waiting..

luckywinner · 23/03/2010 06:59

So I woke up at 5.30 this morning. I can't believe I am so anxious. I got into bed with my ds and had a big snuggle then I had to go into the bathroom and have a little sob! I want the day to go so quick. Thanks for all your lovely thoughts. Mary, you are right, this waiting is hideous. And I am so lucky that I have insurance through dh's work.

luckywinner, best of luck for today. Go out for a walk or something to help the time pass quicker. Best of luck to you.

luckywinner · 23/03/2010 22:35

Thank you all for thinking of me today. I have another fibroadenoma. But that has to be one of the most stressful days that I have had. I know I am exceptionally lucky to have private health care and for it to be sorted so quickly. But this thread has kept me going over the last couple of days so thank you all a lot. Smee, I am staying here to hold your hand till you get your appointment.

MaryAnnSingleton · 24/03/2010 10:08

luckywinner · 24/03/2010 18:38

Thanks Smee, what time is your appointment? Will be thinking of you and keeping all toes and fingers crossed. Oh god the waiting is sooo stressful.

MaryAnn, I have to go back in 6 weeks and if it hasn't got smaller then we will talk about taking it out. My other one from 7 years ago hasn't changed so most likely be having that conversation. I'm not sure about whether I will get them taken out though. What do you think?

smee · 24/03/2010 19:49

First thing Lucky. Don't think I'll sleep much tonight..

luckywinner · 24/03/2010 22:06

Let us know how you get on. At least you won't have the whole day ahead of you to worry. I hope you decided to take your dh. Mine was brill, even if it was to wipe away the tears in between consultation and ultrasound. You will be in my thoughts tomorrow. Loads and loads of luck and unmumsnet type hugs for you.
