Loss of voice after flu. When will it come back?

I had flu 14 days ago which ended up with me on antibiotics for a secondary infection in my chest and sinuses. I finished the antibiotics yesterday but still haven't got my voice back. At best it is croaky and weak , mostly its hard to raise it above a whisper and sometimes its not there at all !When will it come back and how can I encourage it.

You might not have your full voice back for at least another week or so. I always lose my voice after a bad dose of flu. It's so frustrating isn't it!
To help it on its way, make sure you keep your throat lubricated - lots of soothing drinks (hot water with squeeze of lemon and a spoon of honey is nice), plenty of water and Vocalzone pastilles from a pharmacy are excellent too IMO.

Another week !! Its so annoying , especially when the phone rings and people either A) can't hear me or B) think I'm my husband or son !. Will have a walk to the chemist and get some Vocalzone pastilles. Thanks

It might not be a week, but sometimes if you've totally lost your voice it can drag on a bit and could be more than a couple of weeks before you can talk much without needing to cough.
If it's very troublesome or taking a long time to sort itself out then check with your GP again that there isn't any other infection going on.

get well soon

Seems a bit better today, took your advice and got some pastilles and been having lots of warm drinks and soup.
