Still have bleeding 3 1/2 mnths after birth

The gynae doctor says it's to do with low oestrogen that has caused a thin womb lining that will bleed. The bleeding is one & off. When I saw her I had no bleeding that day.

Has anyone else had this? I feel that it's my cervix as I ache here & it feels smooth on one part & rough on another (sorry if tmi)

The birth was 30mins start to finish & everything was fine - no tears or stitches needed.

I'm bf on demand & my periods haven't come back.

I've been prescribed an oestogen spray that will go one my arm once a day for a month.

Anyone been though this?

Also - I had a smear a year ago & it was fine. The doctor says I should have one next year rather than now.

No experience here but feel for you, it must be worrying. Any consolation my vagina etc is both rough and smooth. My smear was all clear too. I have heavy periods, due to thick lining of womb. But no bleeding in between. Hope someone comes along to answer your question.

Have you had a scan? I had bleeding for a long time after my first baby. It was on and off as you describe, and I kept feeling like I had period pains. It turned out that some bits of the placenta had been retained - they came out as big clots a couple of months later which was rather terrifying, but afterwards I had a scan which showed that nothing was left and the bleeding stopped. I felt so much better afterwards - I hadn't realised that it wasn't normal to feel so grotty!

Cherrylips - I also have heavy periods when I have them. I think this is one reason I've bf for so long with my kids as I've not had a period for ages! Thanks for replying.

Tikkabilla - Thanks for replying as well. That must have been an awful experience. I had a scan & there was nothing left behind. It was the first thing the doctor thought to check. She measured the thickness of the lining & said it was thin.

I got the oestrogen spray today & there are so many side effects I'm hesitant to use it.

Thanks Bluecardi - hope it's sorted out for you and you feel back to normal soon. There's so much about this pregnancy/birth/babies lark that no one warns us about isn't there!

I hardly bled after having my dd in May last year- birth was an elective c-section. Then about 6 weeks after birth I bled until 26 weeks after birth- there was bleeding every single day during this time varying in amounts. I visited the doctor at 26 weeks as I was so hacked off and she told me to take double doses of the mini pill cezerette. I have tried a few times to reduce back down to one pill but the bleeding starts again and doesn't stop. I have had blood tests for my thyroid and have been sent to the hospital for a full pelvic scan but nothing has shown up. The have put it down to hormones and there is nothing they can do- just keep trying to go back down to one pill and hope it sorts itself out but its very frustrating

Best wishes Tikkabillajive

Sarahken - thanks for your reply. I've been prescribed an oestrogen spray but after reading all the possible sideeffects I've not started to use it. Hope everything will go well for you.

After the birth the lochia was fine but at 6wks I started with lots of bleeding. I couldn't believe it. It reduced at 8 wks & has been on & off sometimes lots other times just a bit. I take thyoxine for low thyroid but the levels are ok.
