Anyone know what a 'renal blood test' is?

Is it just a sample (or samples) of blood taken and then tested in the lab for renal stuff?

I keep having little moments of horror where I think they are going to delve into my kidneys

Renal blood test - is a blood test which is used to assess kidney function. Nothing mroe than a blood test.

Your kidneys filter unwanted waste out of your blood, like a kitchen sieve. A blood test can see how well they are working by looking at the amount of 'gunk' in that sample, an efficient kidney would mean less 'gunk' in your blood. Try not to worry, it's a routine blood test.

Just a blood test to determine kidney function.

I've had almost every test going on my kidney, but can say, no one has ever poked a needle into my kidney!

Poking a needle into your kidney is a valid test and is needed by many people - 'kidney biopsy'

Fair point.

Have a sense of relief now - can handle a needle in the arm!!

Bit weird as a check up though seeing the op I had was on my heart

They normally do a few blood tests for different things at the same time, they are all routine.
