Is it okay not to have had a period yet nearly 2 years after giving birth?

It is starting to dawn on me that ds is going to be 2 next month and I'd like to start thinking about another baby, yet I still haven't had a period.

I am still breastfeeding. I imagine this is why.

Is it okay?

stop breastfeeding. I got a period a month after i stopped breastfeeding!

Might be worth asking a doctor if it is worthwhile you taking calcium and vitamin D supplements, if you aren't already? Just wondering whether the lack of periods for so long might put you at risk of earlier-onset osteoporosis????? If the lack of periods is purely down to breastfeeding, then I probably wouldn't be too worried about post-breastfeeding fertility, unless and until my periods hadn't returned several months after stopping breastfeeding altogether (without having fallen pregnant).

Extened bfing decreases your risk of osteoporosis so do not worry about that aspect.
You may still be ovulating. My pal conceived her 2nd and 3rd while bfing and sans periods.

Maybe try an OPK?

...but of course ask doc for advice if you are worried. A lot of them know flip all about bfing though.

Phew! It's great to know breastfeeding doesn't increase the risk of osteoporosis! I've been a bit worried about that, because I've had unexplained amenorrhoea in the past, which I was told put me at increased risk of osteoporosis later in life. It's nice to know that my breastfeeding (including while pregnant) didn't increase that risk. And ironically, whilst nothing in particular appeared to stop my periods when I was younger, breastfeeding didn't stop my periods returning within 12-weeks of giving birth both times.
