I'm not anaemic and I'm disappointed!

I have had M.E./CFS for about 8/9 years. Various other health problems too, tinnitus, endometriosis, IBS (apparently but nothing else has ever been looked into with that).

Last year I was feeling really bad but out it down to M.E. and looking after a toddler until I was tested for arthritus (it wasn't) but I was anaemic. I took iron tablets and folic acid and was so much better. Came off the tablets. Couple months later I had to have another blood test and my iron level were dropping again. Doc said have another bloody test about now. I've had it and really thought I was anaemic. Last week I had a splitting headache for 4 days (unusual for me) and my legs have been covered in quite bad bruises where I haven't even knocked myself.

Results are back and they are clear. I am actually disappointed as I just want a bloody test that says I have something, they give me tablets and I feel better. I am so fed up of having these annoying conditions where they can't actually find any reason then they can't do anything about it. I have so many symptoms which don't really seem to add up. If I mention any to my doctor, it just gets fobbed off. I mentioned about my curving nails and she just said it was probably from when I was anaemic last year, they have been curving for a lot longer than that. Agghhhhhhhhh. So fed up of being ill!

Aw, Coldhands, that is rotten. I totally get why you are disappointed. Nothing like as bad, but after I had glandular fever I had a good few years of ailing and was tested for all sorts and always disappointed that there was nothing treatable.

Have you been checked for coeliacs? Just that IBS is bandied around by a lot of GPs without exhausting other possiblities and coeliacs is very under diagnosed.

get your ferritin checked
and your B12 level

They did actually test me for coeliacs recently Nicky and Eldon I think they were testing a whole blood count. I've got dcos next tues so I'll ask her then.

I don't think ferritin is included in the usual full blood count but certainly worth checking
