I had this last year, it was an acute sinus infection. The pressure on my forehead, ears and felt like it was pushing my teeth out. I couldn't even think straight. At least if you have the flu you can sit in bed and read mags/watch TV but I found it hard to even stay concious.
I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy, you can't even think straight with all that pain.
My Dr prescribed me very strong anti-biotic, anti-histamines, decongestants, painkillers and something else. I felt like a walking pill bottle. I was told not to even think of getting out of bed for 2 weeks even if I felt well and that if I got a fever I had to call the Dr immediately.
Needless to say I felt fine just after a week (maybe a bit weak tho) and went out just a couple of times because I had commitments and people were relying on me.
Then I ended up sick again and the Dr had to prescribe me an even stronger dose of anti-bi and more of the other meds.
I swear I wasn't completely well for nearly 3 months.
I have 2 young kids that rely on me as well but luckily their father lost his job and had nothing better to do (every cloud).
If you feel like you're not getting the attention you need, I suggest you keep going to the Dr until someone treats you with something that works.
I'm so sorry that you're in this much pain, I was nearly crying when I was talking to my Dr about this.
She (Dr) said that it was due to allergies but I haven't suffered from hay-fever since my teens and now take anti-histamines as a precaution so I never end up so sick again.
I really hope that i haven't freaked you out, that was just what happened to me. I really hope that you get well soon and that this doesn't last long for you ((((hugs)))
