Dr says that's what I have, spent all day yesterday vomiting and feeling like I was dying. He wanted to send me to hospital because I was so dehydrated and couldn't keep anything down. Managed to convince him to give me some anti emetics first which thankfully seem to be working and can now drink.
Still have really bad stomach pain and cramps though, feel like my insides have been attacked

If you've had it before how long before the stomach pains went away? Dr was useless and said if I'm still suffering in a week to call him back. Please please tell me it's not going to last a week!

Don't know what we've just had... A&E Dr said it was 'viral gastro', GP said it was 'swine flu' and GP friend/ Mummy pal said it sounded like 'norovirus'.
Whatever it was the vomiting and diahorrea lasted 1-week, the feeling naff lasted 2-weeks, and we still have the sore throat, runny nose and pluracy (week 3).
It has been hell and my 10-month old ended up being rehydrated in hospital
Get well soon x

I had norovirus last year. I was vomiting for 1 day, felt like shite for 2 after and was on the mend by day 3. I think I was on ice lollies by day two, but still on the sofa feeling weak and feeble. I had really sore legs, from all the vomiting, something to do with lactic acid? I drank lots of those re-hydration sachets- Dioralyte- to give me back my energy. I hope you feel better soon. My sikness was horrid but quick!

I think I had it last year (work in hospital and we had it there) I had 'active' d&v for about 8 hours then it stopped and I just slept and slept. The next day I felt very washed out but could make myself eat and once you start rebalancing your body you do feel better. Have you kept anything down? You probably need some salt and some sugar at the very least - few plain crisps and a biscuit?

I had it last week. Fainted three times on Day 1, vomiting and diahorrea. Lost 3 lbs in a day.

Day 2 I looked like death and still stupidly weak, with continuing diahorrea. Basically had diahorrea for five days. Now everything's back to normal.

IsItMeOr · 26/02/2010 22:12

I think I've had it annually for the past three years. This time was less severe. For me, the vomiting has usually been over within a day - normally stopping just after the point when I wouldn't mind if I died. Then feel rubbish for a day or two. This time the tail has been long, with a runny nose and tiredness. But have a poorly 11mo who suffered much worse with it, so who knows what causes tiredness any more!

Hope you're feeling much better soon. Plenty of water, white toast when you can face it. A bit of marmite/peanut butter on toast when you're sure it's staying down.

Thanks all, I completely forgot to come back to this thread
I feel a lot better now, have been able to eat today for the first time (spent yesterday surviving on dioralyte) Sickness seems to have left for good which is great relief although still have really sore tummy - I think all the vomiting has caused most of it, but still a few cramps lingering. Sleeping has gotton all messed up though (hence time!)
Have lost almost a stone in the last few days Not I diet plan I would recommend though, I don't think I've ever felt so horrid, and I've had swine flu! lol
Am hoping by Monday I'll be feeling something like normal again.

Thanks for all the replies
