What is this on my hand?

Last night I had a tiny, slightly prickly patch on my hand. Today it is a sore, tingly, raised, dark red blob, 3-4mm across.

AFAIK I've not been stung by anything.

So what is it?

It is now twice the width and twice the height that it was when I first posted. And twice as sore. I priked it, thinking it was a blood blister and that releasing the pressure would ease the pain, but virtually nothing came out. WTF is this?
