DD had her 3 1/2 year check a few weeks ago. When it came to the eye test she wasn't able to do it 100%. Health visitor has said that she needs to visit the children's eye specialist at our local hospital. They have said it won't probably lead to anything but they have to do this as a routine check.
DH's vision has never been very good and he has worn glasses from a very early age. I think this is another reason they want her checked out.
Fingers crossed things are going to go okay.

Fingers crossed for you Sparkler.

If she does need glasses they do fab NHS ones these days! My DD has glasses & DS gets quite upset when he passes his eye test each year

Thankyou - Am feeling pretty positive that things are going to be okay.

It was good that your HV spotted this. My HV only recommended that my son see an optitian at 4 as that is a good age to have eye tests done. I took him when he was 4 and he has been wearing very strong glasses since then. I feel bad that I didn't realise anything was wrong before that. He is really good about wearing his glasses though, probably because he can actually see now .

I hope all goes well but it is not the end of the world if she needs glasses. They have really nice ones for children.

How did it go?

RTKangaMummy · 13/07/2005 00:37

Was it ok?

She was absolutely fine. They did a few reading tests with her and then took photos of her eyes. Amazing camera they used - played nursery ryhmes to get her attention. She loved it.
They have just left it that I take her to the opticians now for routine eye tests.
