Not quite the same thing as it was a baby tooth, but when ds2 knocked his front tooth backwards, the dentist checked it and then decided to leave it in place for a week to see if it would settle. We just had to keep him on really soft food (soup, mash etc).

When we went back, they decided the tooth had no blood supply and couldn't be pushed back into place because of the adult tooth underneath so he had to have it removed (cue lots of blood from a tooth that apparently did have a good blood supply after all ).

The dentist did say that had it been an adult tooth with a healthy blood supply, they could probably have saved it.

As its an adult tooth, I would get the dentist to have a quick look at it.
