HELP! anyone's dp/dh/ ds ever torn frenulum?

my ds 18 has torn his frenulum during sex, the first time 3 months ago. lots of blood and big shock for him and his girlfriend! He went to the hospital and was reassured it would heal itself after couple of weeks abstinence. Which it did.
But last night it happened again..I got woken up by a tearful son!

I just wondered if anyone has any experience of this and how long it takes to heal completely and if this repeat tearing is normal. i'd just like to offer him a few other case histories so he know he isn't alone with this!

DH did this when he was in his mid 20's. It's really rather scary (for both of us, he was pouring blood and I was covered in the stuff) We were very careful afterwards - used condoms for a while (I was on the pill, so we hadn't been bothering). I'd suggest (sorry if TMI with your DS!) he's extra careful about positioning - no awkward angles, and it might help, after it's all healed, to use extra lubrication so nothing can get caught.

Can I ask what he did the first time? DH was told to keep pressure on it to help it heal correctly, so we had the fun task of using a finger splint to get a tubular bandage on the end to keep some pressure on. We did that for a couple of days and it seemed to heal really well. At least we've never had a repeat performance since.

after the first tear the dr told him just abstain for a while and leave it to heal, which he thought it had so he's all over the place now it's reoccurred.
i'm not sure how bad the tear is this time, i'll enquire! i did advise they use condoms or lots of lubrication.. but mother'sadvice was probably ignored

I'm trying to remember what else it was they said... but it was 17 years ago (oddly enough almost exactly 17 years ago, as we were going away with friends for a birthday/Valentines weekend break) DH thinks we didn't actually go anywhere (I know we didn't on the night, it was about 2am, and I'm sure DH still has nightmares of trying to repair himself in best friends bathroom, with BF and BFs partner laughing their socks off offering advice through the door. Maybe we just spoke to NHS direct, or whatever was going on at the time...

DHs friend did this (reverse cowgirl, too much pressure) and ended up with a circumcision, advice to abstain for 6 weeks - not sure if he did cos he's a horny bugger - and list of positions to avoid. Apparently very enthusiastic sex makes it hurt too.

I never thought I'd appreciate his discourse on the subject. Usually I sit there and silently shriek 'TMI! TMI!'.

DP has done this once or twice. I am not quite sure whether it is something about the way he is built? I mean, you know how different women having different sizes of labia and some find they need more lubrication than others as a result ... well I think the same is true of men, probably. DP is not oddly shaped or anything, in fact he is a very good shape indeed but is uncircumcised and has quite a lot of foreskin compared to some guys, so if things aren't well-enough lubricated for whatever reason, there is more of him to get caught/pulled about, IYSWIM. (I note that DS (2) has the same shaped penis in miniature, which I think is quite sweet, but perhaps in future years he may need advising on this!)

We have found that as long as there is plenty of lubrication (natural or artificial) all is well.

Wondering if I should have namechanged ... ho hum.
