I've had IBS for 5 years now, and have taken the pill microgynon for part of that time. I have been off it for a while, but have just returned to taking it again and have noticed my IBS is far more evident and frequent. Is it just coincidence? or has anyone else noticed this too??

Yes! Now you mention it! I've just come off microgynon and things seem to be a bit better........how strange

Hi Silvery. It is odd isn't it?? I only went back on the pill coz my periods were heavy and painful, but if the result is that my IBS comes back with a vengance I'd rather suffer once a month.

I've changed onto cileste and although I still have problems, it's a bit better

How strange, I do not have IBS, but have Ulcerative Colitis and having been well for some time have gone back onto the pill last few months. BUT I am now in the middle of flair up and have had to have steroids and it went throught my mind about pill. Also microgynon. Going to stop taking it at end of this pack, esp seeing that 1. whilst i am ill I will not be indulging anyway and 2. frequent trps to the loo means it poss won't be working as birth control so bit blardy pointless!!
