My GP has just called me, she wants me to go to hospital tomorrow for an emergency brain scan

Shit.

She phoned about an hour ago to say that after seeing me earlier today she didn't want to wait a week to see me again, and she is going to call me in the morning when she has hopefully arranged an appointment at the acute medical clinic and a brain scan...

Am quite worried now. I went in with a headache that hasn't gone away, and she was shocked at how high my blood pressure was. She said that she had been thinking about it all day, and although I 'shouldn't worry', she wants me seen tomorrow.

Fuck.

at least she is being proactive. Fingers crossed it is nothing. Please post back and let us know you are fine post tomorrow

Buda · 01/02/2010 21:30

It is probably nothing but sounds like you have a great doctor. I think high blood pressure can cause headaches but she is prob just ruling out anything else.

moodlum · 01/02/2010 21:31

Thanks. She is a very nice dr and I'm very grateful to her for calling me. But still a bit scared.

Fingers crossed that all will be well. It's good that you can get seen so quickly.

NoahAndTheWhale · 01/02/2010 21:33

Am thinking of you

MarmMummy · 01/02/2010 21:33

Blimey! I read your earlier post and thought a week was quite a long time to wait, but even so...

Totally understand why you are nervous, but she's probably being cautious.

Can I suggest wine?

Lizzylou · 01/02/2010 21:34

Am sure all will be well, your GP sounds excellent.
Best of luck

Hope it goes ok.

Sounds like you have a good GP there.

I'll be thinking of you.

GossipMonger · 02/02/2010 18:04

bump

TheChicOfIt · 02/02/2010 19:00

Bumpety bump - does anyone else know how she got on?

moodlum · 02/02/2010 19:28

Hi ladies- I'm back. I have a brain I still have a sore head, but there is nothing sinister going on and my BP is down.

Hurray Hurray

The NHS is so brilliant. My GP sorted it all out, I had a head CT scan, I saw a consultant immediately, and I'm having some head CTA tomorrow (I don't really understand what that is) and everyone was so nice.

So thanks for worrying about me ladies and asking after me. And big love to all the lovely NHS people I saw today.

Ah thats good

Now go and lie down !

TheChicOfIt · 02/02/2010 20:15

Fantastic news.

I know people complain about the NHS but they are fab IMHO.

Have a lovely chillaxing evening .

NoahAndTheWhale · 02/02/2010 20:17

Excellent news

FabIsGoingToBeFabIn2010 · 02/02/2010 20:17

No one can possibly say it is probably nothing as they don't know. I am sure you must be very scared but tomorrow you might find out why you had such a bad headache and why your BP is so high and then you can start the road to recovery.

Three cheers for your GP. One of mine is crap.

Try and get some sleep.

FabIsGoingToBeFabIn2010 · 02/02/2010 20:19

Oops.

Didn't realise the date of your OP. SO pleased that all appears well.

moodlum · 02/02/2010 20:56

Thanks girls. I am prone to fearing the worst, but I can't believe how wonderful and quick the NHS were today. Still not resolved, but who cares - I don't have to have brain surgery
