Had copper coil fitted on Fri and still not feeling 'right'.

I had the copper coil fitted on Friday. They had to furtle about quite a bit to get it in. Spent the weekend taking painkillers as I had quite a lot of twinges, grumblings and general abdominal discomfort. I've still got a very bloated stomache with residual pain so wondering whether I've got trapped wind? Taken some Windeze and burping lots.

I'm not a wimp, I've had 3 kids! But something just doesn't feel right.

Is it just my body accepting the coil? Is it normal to feel discomfort 72 hours after it's been fitted? I've not got a temp, not really spotting anymore either.

Any advice greatly recieved!

I felt rubbish with my first IUD - fitted pre children, for a few days after and occasionally in the month from time to time.

The IUD fitted since children, has not bothered me in the least though...

Hope that helps a little?

Go back to GP if it's still achey though in a few days, just in case x

I think your supposed to wait one full cycle until it's all sorted. That's what I was told.

3 days of discomfort isn't too much too worry about.

Maybe give it a week and if it's still really noticeably painful go back to docs.

Yeah mine felt a bit twingey for a few days, think it's normal.

It took me three cycles to feel ok. minutes after the fitting my body went into sensations of the worst period ever and i had to go to bed for the rest of the day

Been over 6mths and am changing it to the Mirena tomorrow. Have had the worse periods and cramps since I had it fitted. Awful

took me at least a month before I stopped 'feeling' it - uncomfy, pains etc. since then it's been a dream - no pain, periods as normal, no fiddly condoms to use - all great

Mine was the same, it seemed to affect my guts for some reason and was really painful. Am on second coil now as it turned out the first was sitting to low and was not going to be effective, so if it continues I would go back. The second time I had it in I couldn't feel it at all. Period pains are alot worse though.
