to allow me not to go through the airport metal detectors? We have flown all over the world without problems, generally I say pacemaker for simplicity. The last time we flew out of Manchester the security man was really horrible. He asked me for my card to show I had a pacemaker, I said well actually it was a neurosurgical procedure blah blah blah. He told me that I had to have a card to show him. I said I didn't have one but would try to get one. So, finally, where can I get one. I don't live in the UK and my local doctor looked at me blankly. I have checked to see whether the surgeon who operated on me still works at the hospital, but he must have retired. Any advice gratefully received.

If there is no luck with your GP you can always get a skull XRay at BUPA, it will cost about £70-100 or so and will include a report by a radiologist confirming the presence of a metal aneurysmal clip.
