Are you breathing with your mouth open (due to a stuffed up nose)? This will promote drying out of your mouth. How much liquid are your drinking?

Spidermama · 30/01/2010 20:14

I have this at the moment. DD had it too. I'm just drinking various sorts of warm tea all the time.

I have Potters cough pastilles at night to try to stop me coughing so constantly. It's horrible though. Really sore. You have my sympathy.

I bought a little cup in the chemist which has a mouth piece so you can inhale steam. I might give that a go in a bit.

Good luck.

hi ladies - im making a real effort to breath through my nose - drinking loads of water but doesnt seem to make much difference-its worse down one side of my throat, its making me feel a bit paniky - silly really ,just thinking what if it does dry up altogether
im not coughing at all, ive even tries suking the kids sour sweets to see if it makes more saliva ,did help for a few minutes

can buy fake saliva at chemists

pineapple chunks good too

pollywollydoodle · 30/01/2010 20:29

the fruit not the sweets

SofaQueen · 30/01/2010 20:30

What are warm, lemon water with honey? You'll be hydrating yourself and the lemon (acid) will help trigger your to produce saliva. The honey will "coat" temporarily, and if Manuka honey, should help your sore throat.

foxinsocks · 30/01/2010 20:31

the vicks chloraseptic spray (spelling prob wrong) v good

candyfluff · 30/01/2010 20:43

Could you try really sour sweeties to keep you going until Monday? Best of luck, it sounds horrible, poor you

addictedtolatte · 30/01/2010 21:27

sorry didnt mean to make you sad. have you considered it may be a side effect to a medication. thats what is was with me. i was on omoprazole for 1 year when i developed dry mouth i stopped the medication and the dry mouth went.

aristocat · 30/01/2010 21:34

poor you
when i have a sore throat i use difflam spray, it sort of 'numbs' the area
works for me

candyfluff · 01/02/2010 15:36

hiya - its not been so bad to day - saliva coming back a bit - still feel like im being choked though ,i have a large red sore on my tounge now - looks like a burn mark ??
