I have had the Mirena coil fitted for 4yrs. For the last couple of months I am finding that I bleed (lightly) after sex. Is this normal? Do I need to go and see my GP?

No, that not normal. This is known as a post-coital bleed and should be checked out. Go and see your GP and brace yourself for an internal exam, sorry!

Bugger. Thanks for the answer Pacific. Off to docs next week then - wearing obligatory skirt for internal exams to avoid embarassing trousers round ankles/bare legs and socks scenario - although since they are getting an all access view of your fanjo it's hard to understand that is the embarrassing part
