Psycho has ended up with oral thrush after various steroids in hospital. The stuff tastes vile apparently and she wants to know if there is any treatment slightly nicer iyswim

Nystatin.

Daktarin is more for just the mouth but if she has had steroids it is likely to be down the whole gastrointestinal tract and possibly round her bum. Is her bum sore.

The nystatin is clinically much more effective and will treat it further down their system

just found this, thankyou flame

am sticking with the nystan as since I have gotten home I am now thushified all the way through!

alypaly · 27/01/2010 00:09

canestan will help round your bum

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 27/01/2010 00:15

Try sucking a bit of garlic. Worked for me, my neighbours tip. She also suggested wiping crushed garlic on a tampon and putting it in the fanjo, I didn't have thrush there though. Nystan's crap by the way, I also had some of those sweets that you suck every hour or so, they didn't work either. The garlic did, kept away vampires aswell

psychomum5 · 27/01/2010 21:56

am on canesten now, and got a pessary for tonight.

not sure I am loving the thought of garlic, altho I might just try it tomorrow if there is no light of it easing.

keeping away the vampires is not on tho....what if edward cullen hears about me and decides to come cheer me up, would never want to hamper my chances with him.....

physcho has it affected both lady bits froint and back. I found steroids my bum sore and not my lady bits IYGWIM

psychomum5 · 28/01/2010 09:34

am front and back.......the thrush in the mouth has gone all the ways thru my digestive system, so have a sore bum, and the antibiotics have made my fanjo sore, as they always do, so I have the 'joy' of double whammy!!

feel slightly better this morning tho on the sore itchy front, mouth is clearing as white patches are gone, but toungue still feels covered in a layer of something. pessary still has to kick in, but assuming it is doing its magic.

am falling to bits

alypaly · 28/01/2010 10:28

you might need fluconazole (diflucan) cpsule if it doesnt clear up. Surprised the gp didnt give you that with it being both ends.poor you

psychomum5 · 28/01/2010 10:38

aly, I think it was simply becuase I am taking so mcuh already, that he figured a pessary would just go straight to the source IYGWIM.

he did say that the nystan should start working all the way trhu so soon, but if it doesn;t to go back.
