OUCHIE Has my Coil just come out?

Please tell me no, as it was rather uncomfortable to have put in today!

I am in a bit of pain. Not huge, but keeps smarting 'down below'. Not like torn (thought at first my birth tear had been caught), or bruised, but like something was digging in.

So i investigated, and yes, something appears to be digging in. Feels like a bit of wire, sticking into my soft flesh, about 2 inches in? Now this is clearly not normal, as it hurts? I did not want to pull it in case i pull it out, but i could pull it away fro the digging in, if I know what it is? Should it be there at all? (ie, is it a 'thread' that is poking in?). Needs adjusting, or needs redoing?

Drs tonight, or in the morning? Oh the indignity just keeps on trucking...

Oooh to add to the embarrassment, i appear to have posted it twice, how did that happen?

And the reason i am this name, is my DH was mortified that I could even think about posting for advice on an 'open forum' where the world could read about it. Like I have my full name, DOB, address and picture on this site for all to know it is me

ring your ooh surgery. it might be a thread?

LucyEllensmadmummy · 21/01/2010 21:24

it could be the wire, they might have left it long? is that where it hurts? or does it hurt in your womb? I would say, take some paracetemol and go to bed - ring doc/nurse in the morning. Mine was achy and hurt for the first few days - occasionally it "catches"

I don't think it would have come out though

LucyEllensmadmummy · 21/01/2010 21:25

the threads do feel a bit wirey tbh, they are like that plastic string might need trimming

DonttellDH · 21/01/2010 21:36

Phew! Thanks all. I had a brain wave while waiting and spoke to my good friend who has the coil, and also happens to be a nurse! (used to be a practice nurse so has been a Drs sidekick for them).

She said it could either be the thread which might be a little too long (ie if it is in the vagina area not the cervix itself, as that has no nerve endings so should not hurt, or something like that>) or that when he inserted the 'contraption' he might have nicked a bit of skin, and while i am feeling the wire, it might not be that which is hurting.

but probably the wire is too long, and you have just backed that up, so nice one ladies!

Should I get them cut tomorrow? Friend says they should soften in a few days so I can't feel them, but i am also worried that if they are that far down, DH might accidentally 'tug' so to speak (TMI sorry!).

lucy where does it 'catch'? Where is the pain? The pain i get is not constant, it catches me every now and then and hurts then but not after.

i think you have to yank as opposed to tug to get them out, yourself i mean, the doctors obviously get a better view!

Ingles2 · 21/01/2010 22:39

when did you have it fitted? and what kind?
I had a mirena fitted that fell out whilst walking across the park..wasn't comfortable .
I ended up with a conventional copper coil and that stayed in.

DonttellDH · 21/01/2010 22:41

Mirena coil fitted this morning so very new, can you tell?

OP posts:
DonttellDH · 21/01/2010 22:42

that must have been horrible for you btw

is that to me DTDH? more of a shock tbh...
Go and see the practice nurse tomorrow she'll be able to tell you if it's still in place or if the threads are too long..
I know a couple of women who have mirenas dropping out, all usually in the 1st day or 2 and all fitted first chance after a birth. so don't panic...
