I can't be the only one housebound with only the computer for company!

So getting the important information out of the way:
Yes I am right handed,
Yes it was on the ice,
No it wasn't alcohol related (ha ha - that one gets me everytime!)
No, the dr says I'm not allowed to drive (even if your neighbours cousins aunt did and was OK, I'm not going to risk it!)

Come and cheer me up - I have another 3 weeks of these and other daft questions!

I would say Bump - but that would be a bit too ironic!

It really is only me then? Maybe the snow tomorrow might bring in new members?

Nope - not only you... I had a nasty accident in car on Friday (waiting to hear if it's a write-off) and have cracked ribs. Ouch, ouch, ouch. I can drive so am not housebound but I probably shouldn't be. However, DD 2.4 at home is too much work when I'm in this state. My mum is here looking after me so I'm milking it a bit.

And, I have some really bad bruises on my knees from where I fell over on the ice when I managed to get out of the car!

loler · 19/01/2010 14:45

Oh - no falling over when you get out of the car just adds insult to injury!

Ribs sounds painful - and you don't even have a nice colourful cast to show off - milk it as much as you can! My DH is away at the moment - have been milking it on the phone (but don't get much additional help that way).

I also have a 2.4 ds (he was end Aug 07). In fact the cast has been quite good for child control - my favourite line is you have to be good because mummy can't do X............and if all else fails it's a good weapon. DS1 is also being bribed - if he gets dressed every morning for a week he'll be allowed to write on it.

I've been doing the "mummy can't do x" routine - it's been great. Also getting mor cuddles and she can only hold my right hand (left hand is burnt from airbag going on) and "mummy has a poorly hand". She likes to be carried normally and I'm a pushover but not this week - hah!

I think my mum is appalled that I have spent all day on MN - I may have to limp around a bit more or her sympathy may dry up!

loler · 19/01/2010 14:56

Remember to "ooph" quietly to yourself each time you move - a good reminder that you're in really very bad pain!

I'm also a sucker for carrying - hoping that I might be able to get rid of the pushchair at the end of this though as ds2 has been forced to walk - I can't push or carry, so he's had to.

My mum actually just got me a hot water bottle and covered my cold feet with a blanket while I'm lying on the sofa with my notepad pc. She's said I have to see how I feel on Friday because she can stay another week if I need her. Woohooo! I don't think I'll be better by the weekend .

More seriously, though, how are you coping if you're on your own with DS? It must be quite hard?

loler · 22/01/2010 13:41

stuck in today - wet and cold out - feeling very bad about sticking ds2 infront of cbeebies all day - got a big dose of january blues, feeling sorry for myself and can't be bothered to entertain.

DH meant to be back this PM but stuck in a hotel at a german airport - hoping he might bring some gin home tonight!

loler - same probs here!

right wrist broken falling on ice - on DH's birthday. He and friends have been sympathetic (with a little mickey taking).

Work are being a bit of a pain, despite me being signed off.

Fortunately no kids yet

Hope you heal quickly

inmypants · 22/01/2010 17:18

I broke the middle finger of my right hand last tuesday and whilst splint is off still really hurts - right at the middle joint.

Have had no sympathy OR help other than my mother last wed after it had been x-ray'd then she went off in hols so no more sympathy then!

loler · 26/01/2010 19:13

Pants - Fingers really hurt - I broke middle and ring finger a few years ago (yes I've been there done that a few times before!). I still find that my fingers go stiff in cold weather and I can tell when it's going to snow (no I'm not 80 yet!).

Pissov - so what colour cast did you chose? I got all panicked when she showed me the card with the million options on! If you're signed off surely there's not alot that your work can do? I'm completely stuck as can't get to work (20miles away) and can't get ds2 to nursery so although I (fleetingly) thought about doing work at home I decided that daytime tv was a better option!

I've had a lovely day today - my sister came and took me out for a shop and lunch, have spent lots of money and am justifying it by thinking of the petrol money I'm saving!
